We all wish to be happy and satisfied with our lives. In that pursuit, we try to find people, situations and objects that can provide us with that satisfaction. In actuality, Bhagavad Gita explains to us that our self is eternally blissful, and knowledge of who we truly are is the path to experiencing freedom and satisfaction in our lives. Using this principle as foundation, Chirantana offers techniques to learn these principles and apply them into our daily lives.
About Swa-Avalokanam
Swa-Avalokanam is a set of modules designed to encourage self awareness and self control based on the principles of Bhagavad Geeta. It involves learning the shlokas; practicing the shlokas everyday and finding simple solutions to conflicting situations along with researching the principles and meaning behind Bhagavad Geeta shlokas. It has four major programmes - Nitya Parayanam, Learn to Chant, Swadhyaya Yagna and Gita Jeevanam.
Swa-Avalokanam Programmes
This is a 30-40 minute online gathering of 35-60 families from Monday to Saturday. It symbolises the unity and bond within the Chirantana Kutumba. During this session, shlokas from Bhagavad Gita are chanted for 15 minutes. Chanting not only fosters a sense of confidence in our children but also cultivates commitment among everyone.
Following the Parayanam, we have organised many sessions called Frankest Few Minutes for our children which helps them think about their own thoughts, feelimgs and actions and teaches them self management skills. On some days we are graced by the wisdom of our RamaDhootha, Hanuma, who provides valuable advice and solutions for the various challenges we encounter in our daily lives and are joined by HanumaDhoothas (our own children) who share their experiences and how they got through challenges. On other days, we read stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata and utilise them as case studies for understanding our daily lives. Every Wednesday and Thursday, Swami Samarpanananda teaches us Pranayama techniques to regulate our breathing and develop focus.
We conclude our sessions by chanting Rama Nama for 18 times. Japa is enthusiastically lead by one family everyday.
